Joyce Meyer Is A Word of Faith Heretic
From time to time ICASS receives
e-mail informing us that Joyce Meyer is not a Word of Faith (WOF)
"teacher." We, as charitably as we can, strive to inform the e-mailer that
Joyce is nothing but a WOF teacher and thus heretic in regards to the true orthodox
historic Christian faith.
My granny, who was a Methodist, used to sorta say "if it
quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, eats June bugs like a duck . . . then sonny it is a
duck." Her are three simple reasons why ICASS KNOWS that
Joyce Meyer is a WOF adherent:
1) She has written
articles which have appeared in Kenneth Copeland's monthly magazine The Believers
Voice of Victory. Copeland does not publish anyone who does not
teach WOF beliefs.
2) She has had articles published by Oral Roberts magazine Miracles Now.
3) The articles in her own monthly magazine prove that she is a WOF teacher (as do her
daily television broadcasts).
In Miracles
Now, vol. 2, No. 5 Sept/Oct. 1998 issue her article is entitled "Prophecy
Your Own Future" (page 14).
We can curse our future by speaking
evil of it, or we can bless it by speaking well of it. If we will take the Word of
God and start to speak it over our lives, things can begin to change dramatically.
We can prophesy our own future!"
Her
article is a basic recitation of the false doctrine of positive confession
which is taught by all WOF leaders. There is not one bit of difference in what she
teaches regarding positive confession than any well known WOF teacher, here are some
parallels -

There can be no doubt that
Joyce is WOF. On page 15 of her article she continues by saying (underling &
bold type added0:
Prophesying your future is literally declaring
in the beginning what will happen in the end.
You don't have to stand in the office of a prophet to prophesy ---speak forth God's
Word---over your own life anytime!
If you're tired of the old things, then stop speaking the old things. Start speaking
some new things.
I heard the story of a doctor who was not a believer but who had
discovered the power of speaking positive words. . .He had such marvelous results that
people traveled from all over the world to avail themselves of his services.
It is
the contention of Joyce Meyer and all WOF teachers that mankind literally
creates their own destiny and reality by the "faith-filled" or
"fear-filled" words they utter. Joyce even cites Isa. 48:5-7 as proof that
man is to act like God (the only One who really does decree the end from the beginning).
Joyce and all WOF teachers will tell you that confession is a spiritual
law - and that when put into operation, it will work for anyone,
even sinners. The
last quote from her article is about this unnamed doctor was not a believer, yet he
discovered the "power" of speaking positive words.
Even though he was not saved, even though the Holy Spirit was not resident within
him, even though he lacked true saving faith - - - this spiritual law
worked and produced "marvelous" results in his life!
This spiritual law of positive confession does not
come from the Church at all. It was not taught by the Lord Jesus Christ (although
some of His statements are taken out of context in an attempt to shore-up this unbiblical
concept), nor by the Apostles, nor by any of the Early Church Fathers, and not by the
Reformers. Where did it come from then? It is an occult principle found in
almost all spiritualist and theosophical groups as well as the cult formally called
"The Church of Christ Science," or Christian Scientists.
The entire concept denies the sovereignty of God and places man
in complete control of his destiny. The direction of ones life, the
victories, blessings, or curses one receives (sinner or saint) are traced directly back to
that individuals verbal confession.
